Survivor Stories / Tributes

Dorothy Sandefur

Personal Description:

My Mother, My Friend
This tribute is to my mother, Dorothy Griffin Sandefur, a woman whom I have taken for granted during my 42 years of existence. Mama was diagnosed February 8, 2008, with ovarian cancer stage IIIc. She has suffered with the “symptoms” of ovarian cancer for four months, thinking she was suffering from GERD or diverticulitis which she has had for years. She, my 3 sisters and I have only learned since her diagnosis that these symptoms exist. Had we known we might could have had a better diagnosis.
Mama is just now beginning her long road of survival. My father and sisters and I will all be there to help her along this road but the most precious of all is her heavenly Father who will walk beside her every step of the way.
My mama is a woman I’ve expected to live way longer than anybody I’ve known. This diagnosis brings to reality how short life can be. I will treasure every minute I have with her from now until the end.
Mama, I love you.

My beloved mother, Dorothy G. Sandefur, finished her battle with Ovarian Cancer and went home to be with the Lord on March 08, 2009. “If you knew where she was standing…”
