Jagrati Solanki

Personal Description:

May the strength and tenacity that Jagrati showed in fighting her battle against ovarian cancer raise awareness to all women around the world. Her message to every woman is “Know Your Body!”
We,her family, urge you to be persistent in addressing any minor changes to your body, because
Ovarian Cancer whispers, and is a Silent Killer……….
so listen carefully.

Personal Description:

Jagrati was born on March 6, 1967 in Mutare, Zimbabwe. From 1989 – 2000, she lived in Lusaka, Zambia with her husband, Udaysi, and their two sons, Viraaj and Heeral. In March 2000, the family moved to the United States and settled in California. In October 2010, Jagrati was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In her battle with cancer she never gave up hope and fought until the very end.

Jagrati was a beautiful, compassionate, thoughtful wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend who touched the hearts of many people around the world. She was one of those rare, selfless people who connected with the young, old, sick and healthy. Her radiant smile always left a lasting impression.

She was dedicated and hardworking in every way. She was well-versed and devoted to Hinduism and shared her knowledge with many, both young and old. Her talents in cooking, and baking, especially “Lemington Squares”, brought immeasurable joy to everyone. Just a little feisty, but still caring, she enjoyed every moment of her life.

We will always love and cherish our memories of her. This is only a goodbye to her elegant, dignified, worldly body. Her spirit will guide us in our pursuit for excellence as we continue to fulfill her hopes and dreams.

We thank you so much for being you.

Jagruti Kaki. You are and will always be an amazing aunty in my heart. We all love you so much and all around the world, there are people praying and keeping you in their thoughts because they care so much about you. You are my second mom and always will be, and you were so strong, never once giving up, and I will always admire you for that. You were truly beautiful inside and out, which made you amazing in everyone’s eyes. I know you’ll always be with us but I cant wait for that day when eventually we will both be together again. I love you Aunty. Forever and Always

Just as she saw the pinnacle
She saw her dreams come true
The family…
She loved, cajoled, laughed with joy
Guided her sons so lovingly
“Make me proud” she said.
To friends she opened her home,
Her heart, her thoughts, sharing with joy
Let me teach you to pray she laughed and said
Little did she let on how f.ar ahead she was,
To those closest to her she gave
A touch so fleeting yet so deep
A face and heart of pure strength
A will to forbear, a message of pure absolute love
Yes, to my mind she reached the pinnacle she saw

Jagu was a dear and much loved friend who will be greatly missed by all. She will always be remembered with love and affection by those whose lives she’s touched. My heartfelt condolences go to all of her family.
“To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart:
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.”

Charu – 02/24/2011

God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So he wrapped his arms around you,
and whispered, “Come to me”‘
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.

Jagu we’ve been truely blessed to have had you with us. Your courage and strength was an inspiration to all and you will always be remembered with fondest love and affection. Miss you,
Mahesh, Ansoo, Arvind and Ashmini Ramjee.

Mahesh & Ansooya, Arvind & Ash Ramjee – 02/25/2011

we will miss everything about you and today is not goodbye,
we will celebrate your life as you spread your wings and fly
your gorgeous smile, your kind words, even your lemington squares
will never be forgotten and as we let you go with prayers
we keep you in our hearts because you have touched them all
with irreplaceable beauty and greatness in one so small
never ending gratitude to have you in our family
love you now and always, R.I.P Jagruti kaki

God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered come to me.
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best!

Dearest Jaguben/foi,
Today we remember you 2 years ago when you flew to Atlanta to celebrate our engagement day with us. We will treasure those memories in the years to come and are so grateful that we had an opportunity to come and spend time with you in Sacramento.
There are no words that can describe your positive attributes enough nor how much you will be missed by friends and family.
Thank you for all you did and the person you were.
We will miss you but we will remember the fun times.

Jaymini & Premesh – 03/01/2011

Dear Jagrati kaki,
I still can’t believe you have gone, but I know you are still close by with us all and in each of our hearts.
I remember so many things, can picture you in your kitchen in Zambia calling Grace or the boys, I can hear your laughter and the fiery spirit in your voice, I remember we were thrilled you were living with us as you excitedly got ready for your family’s biggest move to America, I can taste your lemingtons, each batch as great as the one before and all the birthdays you were always there and always made everything delicious for the joint parties Niki and I had. Growing up with you I always considered you my other mum and your home, wherever it has been, has always felt like my other home. You had so many gifts which you shared with us. The most important being the amazing boys you have raised. We know you are looking down on all of us, most especially you are the guardian angel of the three special men in your life. You fought so hard in every aspect of your life and even till the end we all saw your amazing strength. You have impacted us all through your loving spirit and I’m so grateful to have been a part of your life and I have learnt so much from you. My effort to learn baking has always come from your true skill. I may never be as great as you were, but each time I bake I’ll be thinking of you, I will try to learn your recipes to celebrate the delicious gift you shared with us. I will remember you everyday, I can picture you smiling so clearly and I miss you so very much. Fly to the sky Jagruti kaki for you are our angel. Love you always.

Dear Jagu
we will miss you very much
I remember you from high school
in Mutare.

Mohini Rathod – 03/06/2011

Jagu Kaki,
We all miss you very much and it all seems unreal.
I still remember when we were all in Zambia I used to look forward to come to your house to try on all your shoes and admire you and your baking skills.
When I moved to the States I was so happy to hear you were moving to California because it was like a piece of home was coming closer to me. And a few years later you moved to Sacramento and I knew I had someone to always count on nearby, someone to call without reason and just talk…
When I met Rushil you were the first person to say ‘Vruti go for it my girl’
After I got married you called me on my 1st Diwali to wish me and it just touched my heart I will never forget your loving soul. I will always keep you close to my heart.
I wish Rushil had a chance to experience your love and a chance to get to know what an amazing person you were.
We all love you very much and think about you everyday.

Rushil and Vruti Patel – 03/10/2011

Dearest Jagufoi,

Weeks on and its still hard to believe that you’re gone. Our last moments together in Atlanta were spent trying to twist your arm to stay here 1 more day after the engagement. You smiled and replied that you’d be back soon and would come with the boys…

Had we known this would be the last time seeing you, we would have done more to keep you here, probably not taken you to the airport!

We hope to see Udaysifuwa and the boys soon, they always have 2 homes in Atlanta, no calling ahead required 😉

Mayur Nayee – 03/12/2011

So many memories of growing up in Mutare.

I received a text message about a fundraiser for the memorial fund, and couldn’t get out of my mind how familiar the name sounded to me. I searched online and sure enough, I knew Jags. We worked together at the Target store in Elk Grove years ago, back in the early 2000s when I was in high school and she had barely come to the U.S. Though it has been years since I last knew anything of her, I remember what a pleasure she was to work with – always smiling, always compassionate. This is a great loss and I commend those who have started this memorial fund to ensure that women indeed know their bodies and can spare themselves and their loved ones such suffering.
