To all survivors as well as those who have lost their courageous battle against all cancers but specifically Ovarian Cancer.
I complained to my primary care physician for months about having to urinate way too often- especially at night. My primary care physician put me on medication for overactive bladder. After a few months of no or little relief he decided to send me first to my OB/GYN and then possibly to a Urologist. My OB/GYN did a physical and did not believe my frequent urination was due to any OB/GYN condition. He indicated that 9 months earlier he noted in my chart that my uterus seemed enlarged – yet I had not been told at the time. He decided to give me an ultrasound to rule out my uterus before sending me to a Urologist. The ultrasound indicated I did not have an enlarged uterus but I had a large ovarian cyst. They did a CA-125 test. The CA-125 test was normal so they told me I did not have cancer but would need my cyst removed. I was scheduled for the operation to remove the cyst and possibly the left ovary. After the surgery I awoke to discover that I had a total radical hysterectomy and that I had stage 1 ovarian cancer. 6 years later – I am a very proud ovarian cancer survivor. We need to listen to the very sutle hints/signs of this disease and follow up with our doctors.
