Survivor Stories / Tributes

Marcella Grommesh-Peterson

Personal Description:

This is dedicated to my mother, Marcella who lost her fight with Ovarian Cancer on April 3, 1992.
I was her only child and I will never be the same without her daily presence.
I pray that we find a cure for this terrible disease that robbed me of
a chance to grow old with my favorite person.

Personal Description:

My Mother, Marcella was the strongest person that I ever known who loved everyone equally in the eyes of God. She was so popular that I had to have two funerals for her one in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where I grew up for her dear friends and one in Barnesville, Minnesota where she was born on a farm the daughter of a simple farmer and his wife. She had Ovarian Cancer twice and tried all the traditional treatments that were offered by doctors that were available. Mother’s faith in God never wavered even when she knew that she only had three months to live. She is still the person I most admire and aspire to be more like. I wish I had a proper photo to upload of her but you will just have to take my word that she was a great lady to behold.

What an awesome run. This was a new PB for me.This new event was well oirgnased and well thought out.I knew no one at the start but soon got talking to lots of the Bracebridge locals.I am from Haliburton and I would come run with you guys if you weren’t so far away.I for one certainly enjoyed it and I am sure that this event will grow in popularity.Where do we sign up for 2011?
