Survivor Stories / Tributes

Sombol Mohsenin Perret

Personal Description:

To my sister, a very strong lady, thoughtful and positive. She left us last Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 2 AM at age 68.
She fought hard every day with a strong mind but the body was too weak. Her story is a shock to me and to my family.

Personal Description:

We were in France in September 2009, riding bicycle for 5 days in the Loire Valley visiting les Chateaux de la Loire and the vineyards. We rode 25 to 40 km each day. She seemed perfectly healthy, as always, with lots of energy. Two weeks after our bike ride ended she went to the emergency room because she had stomach pain and she would not retain any food. October 7th 2009 marks the day her digestive system became disfunctional. The doctors focused on the digestive system; after 2 ½ months of running many tests the diagnosis was ovarian cancer. The symptoms had misguided the doctors; this is quite common for ovarian cancer. She had stage IV. Just two weeks before going to the ER, she was eating and she had lots of energy. For the following eight months she could not eat or drink anything. It was unbelievable to us. She had a sharp decline in her condition thereafter. She had never been sick before, except for minor cold and then we saw her in the hospital unable to get out of the bed for months. She got weaker and weaker after each chemo session. They tried two different formulae.
She was the most pleasant patient in the oncologist section. The nurses loved her.
Sombol aziz will be missed so much; she will be with us every day in our hearts and in our minds.
