The Ties That Bind Art Doll is the creation of more than one hundred individual artists with the intention of using art to raise awareness and save lives. On September 30, the doll will be raffled off. All proceeds will benefit OCRF.
The idea for the project - to create an art doll that would be built with contributions of art - was formed by Jan Brown, Aileen Roberts and Kris Henderson. The three women wanted a way to raise awareness while integrating the work of individuals who also wanted to contribute to the cause. Made up of men's ties and unique, hand-made charms, and then put together by Jan Brown, the almost life-sized doll features the work of such artists as Tim Holtz, Michael deMeng, Joanna Pierotti, Ruth Rae, Leighanna Light, Mary Beth Shaw, and Sally Jean.
The project is being done through the 100% volunteer-run organization Scrapbook Royalty. Scrapbook Royalty's mission is to raise money and awareness for noble causes through unique scrapbooking and crafting events, and promote creative opportunities for crafters to give to others in need.
Raffle tickets can be purchased for just $5 each, or six for $20. A drawing will take place on September 30, 2009. Learn more about the project, and purchase your ticket, at the Scrapbook Royalty website.
